Europa League 2012/13: UEFA distributes €209m to participants

€209m have been distributed by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) to teams who participated in the 2012/13 Europa League, the European body announced on the 23/07/2013. The winner of the competition, English club Chelsea, received €10.7m, while the other finalist, Benfica (POR) got €5.77m.

Despite being knocked out by Benfica in the semi-finals, Fenerbahçe (TUR) are the club that receive the largest amount: €11.18m, thanks to the variable components distributed according to the TV market in each country.

The gross commercial revenue of the 2012/13 Europa League is estimated at €225m. Nearly 75% of the gross revenue (€168.75m), coming from media rights and commercial contracts, is donated to participant clubs. The remaining 25% is reserved for European football and is retained by UEFA to cover its operating and administration costs.

UEFA's executive committee voted in favour of an additional contribution of €40m funded by the Champions League, which raises the Europa League clubs' net share to €209m.
