Doubling the total amount of the "parachute payments", from €30m to €60m, for the three teams demoted from the Serie A TIM to the Serie B ConTe.it. for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons was approved unanimously at the Annual Assembly of the Lega Serie A, in Milan (ITA), on the 25/11/2016. "The parachute payment (the sum allocated to teams relegated to Serie B), passes €60m to provide a cushion for the consequences and impact of a possible relegation," said Maurizio Beretta, president of the Lega Serie A, 25/11/2016.

This doubling of the bonus granted to relegated clubs had already been voted for the 2016-17 season at the Ordinary Assembly of the Lega Serie A on 26/02/2016, as part of the distribution of television rights between the Serie A TIM clubs for the 2015-2018 cycle.
