USA : New York Cosmos name the American Cancer Society as their official charity partner

The US football franchise, the New York Cosmos ((National American Soccer League, minor league) have named the American Cancer Society (ACS) as their first official charity partner, on the 23/07/2013. The partnership will see Cosmos players helping to promote health awareness by wearing a blue and pink ribbon on their shirtsleeves.

The ACS will also be the Cosmos’ featured 'Charity of the Match' twice by the end of the 2013 season, in November 2013. One match will focus on men’s health awareness, and the second match on breast cancer awareness. During these games, the Cosmos and the ACS will hold fundraisers to support the charity at the Shuart Stadium (capacity: 15,000). A player's shirt from each match will be raffled, with all proceeds going to the ACS.

Cosmos players, coaches and staff will also make trips to the ACS's Hope Lodge Jerome L. Greene Family Centre in New York City to visit cancer patients and their caregivers.
