LaLiga: Intel technology to offer 360° 3D replays for the Barcelona - Real Clasico on 03/12/2016

"360° replay" technology of Intel, the US group specialising in IT and technology, will be used for the first time, in Europe, during the broadcast of the the first El Clasico match of the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander season, FC Barcelona - Real Madrid CF, on Saturday, 03/12/2016 (16:15 CET), announced LaLiga on 01/12/2016.

The Intel device that LaLiga has installed in two of LaLiga Santander stadiums (the Camp Nou in Barcelona and the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid) will generate 360 degree images of certain actions in slow motion. This is made possible with the images captured by the 38 Ultra HD 5K cameras (a format more "elongated" than the 4K) installed in the stadium.

"The technology works by using several cameras installed a specific distance between one another in the stadiums. The 2D videos from each camera are processed through powerful Intel servers and computers, creating a new image of the action on the pitch from any position or angle," said the Spanish League.

Intel has used this technology in the United States during NFL games, particularly for the San Francisco 49ers.
