National Assembly: a question on the funding of the renovation of Euro 2016 stadiums

In a written letter, the MP for the Haute-Marne region, François Cornut-Gentille (UMP, centre-right party) has asked Valerie Fourneyron, the French Minister of Sport, Youth and Community Life, how planned renovations for the Euro 2016 stadiums will be financed, on the 23/07/2013.

"In the last few years, professional football clubs' budgets have focused on recruiting players for exorbitant fees, at the expense of sporting infrastructures, which are left to be run by local councils and the state. So it seems inappropriate that the public have to make a contribution to the renovation of stadiums, for the sole benefit of private entities," said the MP, who asked the minister "to specify the measures proposed by the government to remedy this unsatisfactory situation for public finances."

The Ministry of Sport has not yet responded.

Euro 2016 takes place in France from the 10/06 to the 07/10/2016, in 10 cities.
