Montpellier HSC (Ligue 1) will have a new stadium of 25,000 seats (expandable to 30,000) announced Philippe Saurel, president of the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, Louis Nicollin, president of Montpellier HSC, and Laurent Nicollin, deputy president of club, on 30/11/2016.

The new stadium will be built southeast of Montpellier, between the towns of Lattes and Pérols. It will be part of a sports complex including a new sports hall with 5,000 seats to accommodate the Montpellier Handball team (Lidl StarLigue) and the women's basketball team Lattes-Montpellier.

The entire project is expected to cost between €100m and €120m, financed by a method other than PPP (public-private-partnership). "This (PPP) is a formula that does not work (for us). We will study a smarter partnership that is not too much for the metropole," said Philippe Saurel. Funding could involve private capital and public investments. MHSC and Nicollin Group, owner of the club, should become co-owners and investors of the stadium. The feasibility studies will take place in 2017, the work should begin in 2019 or 2020…
