CAS: his appeal rejected, Joseph Blatter remains suspended six years from any activity in football

"The appeal of Joseph S. Blatter has been dismissed. As a consequence, thedecision rendered by the FIFA Appeal Committee (FIFA AC) on 16/02/2016 remains in force and Mr Blatter remains banned from taking part in any football-related activity at national and international level for six years as from 8/10/2015 and must pay a fine of CHF 50,000 (€46,220)," announced the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 12/05/2016.

Joseph Blatter (SUI), who turned 80 years old on 10/03/2016, was the FIFA president from 08/06/1998 until 26/02/2016 (and suspended from any position in football since 08/10/2015), and was replaced by Issa Hayatou (CMR) on an interim basis from October 2015 to February 2016, and then by Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI) since 26/02/2016.

Joseph Blatter and Michel Platini were suspended by the disciplinary bodies of FIFA for "conflict of interest" and "mismanagement" because of a controversial payment of CHF 2m (€1.54m at the time of payment), on 01/02/2011, for the role of advisor completed by Michel Platini to Joseph Blatter as the FIFA president, between 1999 and 2002.
