Twitter: Top 100 European clubs with the most followers (December 2016)

With 36.96 million followers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are the most followed European club on Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, which features a Top 100 list of the most popular European clubs on the social network as of 01/12/2016.

The data used by News Tank Football in the Top 100 include followers of a club's primary Twitter accounts, but also includes followers on additional accounts in foreign languages. Barcelona have fewer followers on its main account than Real Madrid CF (who rank second), but the Catalan club is ahead due to a higher number of followers on the additional accounts.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF (2^nd, 34.21 million followers) easily top of the European Top 100 ranking. Each of the two Spanish clubs have more followers than the total of top three Premier League clubs: Manchester United FC (3^rd, 10.33 million), Chelsea FC (4^th, 9.56 million), and Arsenal FC (5^th, 8.65 million).
