Matchday 17 of the 2016-17 Ligue 1 season drew an average of 24,838 spectators per game, for an average stadium fill rate of 72% from 09/12 to 11/12/2016. This is not the best average attendance of the 2016-17 season: Matchdays 8 and 11 each surpassed an average of 25,000 spectators per game. The average attendance of the French league is currently at 20,271 fans per game in 2016-17 (average stadium fill rate: 67%).

Paris Saint-Germain - OGC Nice (2-2) registered the highest attendance of the Matchday, with 47,665 spectators at the Parc des Princes (99% stadium fill rate). This match is the second highest attendance of the season for a PSG home game. SC Bastia - FC Metz (2-0, 9882 spectators) was the only game of Matchday 17 which did not exceed 10,000 spectators.

Four games of nine had a stadium fill rate higher than or equal to 85%. Nantes - Caen, scheduled for 10/12/2016 at 20:00, was postponed due to fog.
