Germany: Bayern Munich will play a match against Offenbach (D4) to save the club from bankruptcy

FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) have scheduled a friendly match, on 30/08/2017, against Kickers Offenbach, a German fourth division club, and will give their opponent all revenues from the game to financially assist Offenbach, who are threat of bankruptcy, announced Bayern on 12/12/2016.

This match was given the name the "Retterspiel" (Game of survival). Kickers Offenbach have managed in recent months to collect €600,000 so the club can finish the 2016-17 season, but remains at financial risk for the coming seasons. The Frankfurt club has played 25 seasons in the German Bundesliga, the last one in 1983-84. It won the German cup in 1970.

"Kickers Offenbach are a historic club, and they have always been an important club in Germany and we want to help with this game. We hope we can contribute to the future of the club," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, chairman of the board of Bayern Munich, and whose debut match in the Bundesliga was Bayern - Offenbach (6-0) in 1974.
