Vivendi: French group "crossed the threshold of a 20% stake in the Italian group Mediaset"

"Vivendi has crossed the threshold from 15% to that of a 20% stake in Mediaset," announced the French media and entertainment group on 14/12/2016. Vivendi previously announced it now held a 12.32% stake in the Italian audiovisual group on 13/12/2016.

Vivendi had crossed the threshold of 3% of the capital of Mediaset on Monday, 12/12/2016, and expressed its "intention to continue its purchases of Mediaset shares depending on market conditions until, if necessary, it became the second largest industrial shareholder of Mediaset, which, initially, could mean between 10% and 20% stake in Mediaset," said the French group on 12/12/2016.

An agreement, on 08/04/2016 was between that was to see Vivendi take a 3.5% stake in the capital of Mediaset, and also 100% stake in the subsidiary Mediaset Premium, valued at €800m. Mediaset in return was to take a 3.5% stake in Vivendi.
