"The 10th anniversary of the EPFL coincided with the election of Lars-Christer Olsson (SWE) as the new chairman of our association. Under his leadership, during a period of crisis for the governance of our game, the EPFL started a new era where the primarily goal of our association is and will be to protect and improve the competitive balance of our domestic competitions," stated the EPFL, in presenting its 2015-16 2015-16 Annual Report of Activities on 19/12/2016.

"The lack of competitiveness represents one of the greatest threats for football. The sporting and financial gap between clubs is increasing and should be reduced to maintain the popularity of our game. The EPFL believes that it is in the interest of all domestic leagues, all national associations and the vast majority of European clubs to defend this basic principle," said the EPFL.
