"Many African players have no right to holidays and have no access to proper medical care in their profession. That must change!" said Didier Drogba, the Ivorian striker, on 18/12/2016.

"Didier Drogba (who, at age 38, is leaving the MLS franchise Montreal Impact) has been honorary president of the Africa Division of FIFPro since 2009 and, with Cyrille Domoraud, Kolo Toure, Aruna Dindane, one of the founding members of the AFI (Association of Ivorian footballers), of which he is the vice-president," said UNFP, which published the reaction of Didier Drogba after the publication of the FIFPro world report on 2016 employment, on 29/11/2016.

This survey of FIFPro was conducted among 14,000 footballers in the world, on their working conditions. 45.3% of professional footballers in the world earn less than $1,000 per month (€944), the report said. According to the study, less than 2% of players receive a annual salary higher than $720,000 (€679,000, or €56,500 per month).

"50% of surveyed African players have faced wage delays. This is unacceptable!" (D. Drogba, on 18/12/2016)
