Media: BBC Scotland extends its broadcast rights to the Scottish League Cup until 2016

British public broadcaster BBC (British Broadcasting Company) has acquired from the SPFL (Scottish Professional Football League, 42 clubs) the broadcast rights in the UK to the Scottish League Cup for the 2013/2016 period. The BBC is the exclusive broadcaster of the competition in the UK since 2004.

Under the agreement, BBC Scotland will screen at least four fixtures of the League Cup every season, including a semi-final and the final.

The partnership includes the TV broadcast of the competition, live radio commentary, highlights packages for television, as well as video clips and streaming of selected live matches on the Internet and mobile devices.

The BBC is a free-to-air television. The 2013/14 Scottish League Cup, which includes 42 professional clubs of the 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th divisions, begins on the 03/08/2013.
