Matchday 16 of the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander season drew an average of 29,751 spectators per game, with an average stadium fill rate of 72%, from 16/12 to 19/12/2016. The average attendance of the Spanish league is currently at 28,500 spectators per game on the season (average stadium fill rate: 76%)

FC Barcelona - RCD Espanyol (4-1) registered the highest attendance of the matchday, with 79,370 spectators at the Camp Nou (fill rate: 80%). This match is the third worst attendance for a Barça home game in 2016-17.

Four of the nine games of Matchday 16 drew more than 30,000 spectators, and only three games had a stadium fill rate over 80%. The Valencia CF - Real Madrid CF game was postponed due to Real, winners of the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League, playing in the Club World Cup in Japan, which they won with a victory in the final against the Japanese club Kashima Antlers (4-2 a.e.t.) on 18/12/2016.
