Vivendi: French conglomerate increases its stake in the Italian group Mediaset to 25.75%

Vivendi now holds 25.75% of the capital and 26.77% of voting rights of the Mediaset group, announced the French media and entertainment conglomerate, on 20/12/2016.

The supervisory board of Vivendi, meeting on 19/20/2016, decided to increase its stake in the Italian broadcasting group Mediaset to the limit of 30% of capital and voting rights. The decision of Vivendi to increase its stake in the capital of Mediaset shows our strategic goals to develop in the Southern Europe market and in the context of our strategic ambitions as a major international group in the field of European media and content," stated the french group, 12.19.2016.

Vivendi, second largest shareholder of the Italian audiovisual company, has held 20% of Mediaset since 14/12/2016. The decision to increase Vivendi's stake in Mediaset was on the agenda after a meeting, of 16/12/2016, between Arnaud de Puyfontaine, a top director of Vivendi, and Pier Silvio Berlusconi (son of Silvio Berlusconi), the managing director of Mediaset.
