Premier League: investor Mehmet Dalman appointed new chairman of Cardiff City

Mehmet Dalman was appointed chairman of Cardiff City (promoted to the Premier League in 2013/14), the Welsh club announced on the 29/07/2013. He takes over from Simon Lim, acting chairman since March 2013 who becomes chief executive of the club.

Mehmet Dalman is a British investor originating from the Turkish part of Cyprus, and a member of the board of Cardiff City since January 2012. He resigned from Kazakh mining group ENRC (Eurasian Natural Resources Corportation) on the 23/04/2013, of which he was president since the 03/02/2012. Before, Mehmet Dalman worked at Commerzbank AG, the second largest bank in Germany and financially helped Malcolm Glazer to acquire Manchester United in 2005.

"I am honoured to take up the role of club chairman at Cardiff City FC. I have enjoyed my time at the club since joining the board of directors, and now relish the opportunity to contribute further in my additional role as chairman with Cardiff City in the Barclays Premier League," Mehmet Dalman said on the 29/07/2013.
