Vivendi owns 28.8% of capital and 29.94% of voting rights to Mediaset, announced the French group of media and entertainment, on 22/12/2016.

Vivendi, the second industrial shareholder of the Italian company, has held 20% of the Italian Group since 14/12/2016 and 25.75% of the capital and 26.77% of Mediaset voting rights on 20/12/2016, following the decision of its Executive Board, meeting on 19/12/2016, to increase its stake in the Italian Mediaset broadcasting group within the limit of 30% of capital and voting rights.

Fininvest, holding company of the Berlusconi family and majority shareholder of Mediaset (38.266% of the capital), said it had filed a complaint against Vivendi for market manipulation from Consob, the Italian market authority, the 19/12/2016. "Vivendi wanted to reach an agreement with Mediaset (about the repurchase of Mediaset Premium, see below) but now we have almost 30% of the shares, there is more reason to find one," he said Arnaud de Puyfontaine, Chairman of Vivendi's Management Board following its audience with Consob on 23/12/2016.
