Norwegian broadcasters NRK and TV2 have acquired the television and radio broadcasting rights to Euro 2016 for Norway, on the 26/07/2013.

The agreement ensures that at least one game per day will be broadcast on free-to-air NRK1 or on pay-TV channel TV2, or on Sumo, one of TV2's channels.

"The distribution of the matches between the two channels will not be equal," declared Bjorn Taalesen, sports director of TV2 in the Norwegian press, on the 26/07/2013. "The distribution will favour TV2. But we still have to decide which channel will broadcast what fixture, (...) including the final," he added.

Norway is the first Scandinavian country to acquire the rights to Euro 2016. Both Norwegian channels negotiated with CAA Eleven, the agency that distributes the UEFA's (Union of European Football Associations) marketing and media rights.

"I can say that it is expensive, but it's worth it," indicated Bjorn Taalesen.

  • On the 18/07/2013, SBS Discovery Media acquired the broadcasting rights for Norway to the national team's qualifiers for Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.
