Racism: four Chelsea supporters were sentenced in Paris to prison sentences

Four British Chelsea supporters were sentenced to suspended prison terms ranging from six to 12 months for a racist incident in the Paris metro, by the Paris Criminal Court on 03/01/2017. Only two of the four defendants were present.

These individuals had repelled a black passenger in the subway, and denied entry the person entry into the train while singing racist chants, ahead of the Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea FC match (1-1, Round of 16 of the 2015-16 Champions League), on 17/02/2015.

Three of the four Britons concerned were sentenced to stadium bans of five years, in London, on 22/07/2015, the fourth was prohibited from stadiums for three years.

  • "Such behavior is abhorrent and has no place in football or society. We will support any criminal proceedings against those involved and we will check the possible involvement of our season ticket holders. The club will take the strictest possible measures against these individuals," said Chelsea FC, following the incidents on 18/02/2015.
