UEFA: France takes the lead of the youth teams ranking (Maurice Burlaz Trophy)

"The victory of 'les Bleuets' against Spain at Euro 2013 U19 (2-1 in extra time, on the 29/07/2013) not only gave France access to the final, but it has also allowed France to pass Spain in the UEFA youth teams ranking," announced the FFF (French Football Federation) on the 01/08/2013.

Before the Euro U19 final against Serbia, on the 01/08/2013 in Marijampole (Lithuania), France is now standing at the top position of the Maurice Burlaz Trophy, based on the results obtained in the U19 and U17 categories over the past two seasons.

"Taking into account the results of the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons, France is ahead of Spain and the Netherlands. Serbia is fourth ahead of Portugal. Germany only appears in the ninth place," the FFF added.

The Maurice Burlaz Trophy is awarded every two years, during the fall season. Next edition will occur in fall 2013.

In addition, the French U20 team won the World Cup for the first time, beating Uruguay in the final (0-0, 4-1 after the penalty shoot-out) in Istanbul (Turkey), on the 13/07/2013.
