Media: BT Sport to be launched in the UK on the 01/08/2013 evening with the final of the Audi Cup

The final of the 2013 Audi Cup, which will be played between European champions, Bayern Munich and Manchester City (second in the Premier League in 2012/13), "will be the first live football event to be broadcast on BT Sport," announced Kentaro, the Swiss media and marketing rights agency in charge of distributing the preseason competition's broadcast rights, on the 01/08/2013.

The new channel, which is being offered free to BT broadband customers, is due to launch in the UK on the 01/08/2013 evening. More than 500,000 customers have signed new 12-month BT broadband contracts to receive the channel free or paid the requisite £12 (€13.8) a month to sign up (23,000 new pay-TV subscribers in the three months to the 30/06/2013).

BT Sport has also announced it will broadcast two Liverpool FC pre-season games in the coming weeks. The new channel will show live coverage of Liverpool's game with Norway's Valerenga in Oslo on the 07/08/2013 and a match against 2012/13 Scottish champions Celtic on the 10/08/2013.
