UEFA: the first 3 English divisions all in the Top 10 of total attendance in Europe in 2015-16

The Premier League is the European league which drew the most total spectators in 2015-16 (13.8 million), while the next two lower English divisions (Sky Bet Championship, fourth with 9.5 million; and Sky Bet League One, ninth with 3.8 million) are also in the Top 10 of European leagues in terms of total attendance (see table below), according to UEFA in its eighth club licensing benchmarking report on European football, published on 12/01/2017.

The Bundesliga (18 clubs, compared to 20 clubs in the Premier League), however, remained the European league which posted the highest average attendance per game (43,300) in 2015-16.

At club level, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) which drew the largest total number of spectators in 2015-16 (1.5 million), but Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) posted the best average attendance per game (81,178).
