UEFA: Fly Emirates (six clubs) the most present shirt sponsor in the 16 major leagues

Emirates Airlines is the most represented main shirt sponsor of clubs in the 16 European football leagues which generate the most revenue (see below) in 2016-17, according to UEFA in its eighth club licensing benchmarking report on European football, published on 12/01/2017.

The Dubai-based airline is the main shirt sponsor of six European clubs in 2016-17: Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander), Paris Saint-Germain FC (Ligue 1), Arsenal FC (Premier League), AC Milan (Serie A TIM), Hamburger SV (Bundesliga) and SL Benfica (Liga NOS). Emirates is thus ahead the sports betting operators of 888 (four clubs in the Sky Bet Championship) and Dafabet (two Premier League clubs and one Sky Bet Championship club).

Only 14 companies are the main shirt sponsor of more than one club in 2016-17, so 6% of the 227 brands listed by UEFA in the 16 European football leagues in the study. These 14 companies sponsor 36 clubs, so 13% of the clubs in these leagues.
