UEFA: 25% of the stadiums of the 16 top European leagues have a naming contract in 2016-17

68 stadiums, or 25% of the enclosures of the 16 European football leagues which generate the most revenue (see below), have a naming contract in 2016-17, according to UEFA in its eighth club licensing benchmarking report on European football, published on 12/01/2017.

The Bundesliga (13 stadiums, 72% of the league's enclosures), the 2.Bundesliga (9 stadiums, 50%), and the Alka Danish Superliga (8 stadiums, 57%) are the three leagues in the UEFA study where stadium naming rights contracts are the most common. In contrast, no such contract exists in LaLiga Santander (ESP), the Liga Nos (POR), or the Ukrainian Premier League in 2016-17.

Only three companies have put their brand name on multiple stadiums in the 16 European leagues studied:
• the German insurance company Allianz (Allianz Arena in Munich, Allianz Riviera in Nice, and Allianz Stadion in Vienna)
• the Dutch software firm AFAS (AFAS Stadion in Alkmaar in the Netherlands and Mechelen in Belgium)
• the Austrian energy drinks brand Red Bull (Red Bull Arena in Salzburg and Leipzig)
