Euro 2024: Germany will be a candidate to host, will file its application before 03/03/2017

Germany will bid to host Euro 2024, the DFB announced on 20/01/2017. This decision was taken unanimously by the DFB presidential board. "The DFB have until the 03/03/2017 to hand in the official declaration of interest to UEFA," said the German Federation. UEFA will designate the host of Euro 2024 in September 2018.

The German bid will offer ten stadiums located in ten host cities, and a minimum net capacity of 30,000 seats (excluding the press box and places that can not be sold because of poor visibility). The stadiums that meet these criteria have until 17/02/2017 to submit an application to the DFB.

"Hosting the Euros in 2024 would be a light-house project for the whole of German football. We have both the stadiums and infrastructure in Germany and we already know how to organize an economically viable and ecologically compatible tournament. I will ensure that we will do our upmost to convince UEFA of our strong credentials to host another successful European Championships much like in 1988," stated Reinhard Grindel, DFB president, on 21/01/2017.
