Bundesliga: "Not everybody can win the title, but each one of our clubs makes a profit" (C. Seifert)

"All Bundesliga clubs showed operating profitability in 2015-16, a first in the league's history. And 16 of them (89%) recorded a net profit at the end of the season. These are incredible numbers! The very nature of professional sports makes it impossible for every team engaged in the competition to win a title at the end of the season. Not everybody can win the Bundesliga, but each one of our clubs makes a profit," explained Christian Seifert, the CEO of the DFL, to News Tank Football on 26/01/2017.

The 18 Bundesliga clubs posted a record cumulative amount of €3.24bn in revenue in 2015-16, an increase of 23.7% compared to 2014-15 (€2.62bn), according to the Bundesliga Report 2017 released by the DFL the same day. This is the 12^th consecutive year of cumulative revenue growth by Bundesliga clubs.
