The private TV groups ITV and Sky have acquired, valid in the United Kingdom, the broadcasting rights to the English national teams for the 2018-2022 cycle, UEFA announced on 26/01/2017. The amount of the agreement is £45m per year (€52m), or £180m over the period (€208.6,), that is to say, about twice as much as the current contract, but with more matches (those of the new UEFA Nations League), according to British media who first reported the agreement on 17/01/2017.

ITV retained, via CAA Eleven, the broadcast of the UEFA-zone qualifying matches of the England team (for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup), and acquired the rights to match summaries of all games of the English national teams over the 2018-2022 period. Sky obtained the rights to the Nations League matches of the English national team, as well as all games of the other British nations (Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland) and those of other European nations excluding the United Kingdom over the 2018- 2022 period. Sky also acquired match summaries of all UEFA matches over this cycle, including those of England.
