At mid-season, at least 82.63 million viewers in Spain watched the matches of the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander (71.73 million subscribers on the pay-TV channels of beIN Media Group and Telefonica / Mediapro, and 10.8 million viewers on the free-TV channel Gol), according to data collected by News Tank Football. This represents an increase of almost 29% compared to the first half of the 2015-16 season.

The best TV audience at mid-season was for the first El Clasico, FC Barcelona - Real Madrid (1-1), which drew 2.214 million viewers on average on a pay-TV channel beIN LaLiga, on Saturday, 03/12/2016 (16:15 CET), for an audience share of 17.3%.

At the mid-season of 2015-16, the matches in the Spanish first division had accumulated a minimum of 64.18 million viewers (42.42 million subscribers on pay-TV channels and 21.77 million viewers on the free-TV channel La 1).
