Football posted very strong TV audiences in 2016 in the countries of the European Top 5 leagues, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and UK. In France, the sport represented 23 of the 100 best TV audiences of 2016. In Spain, football programming was even the 39 best TV audiences of the year, and 47 of the top 50.
