Marco Tura has been elected president of the San Marino Football Federation (Federazione Sammarinese Giuoco Calcio, FSGC) for four years at the General Assembly held at San Marino Stadium on 30/01/2017. The 60-year-old football referee succeeds Giorgio Crescentini, who chaired the San Marino Federation for 32 years, "during which San Marino became a member of UEFA and FIFA, and has developed an excellent football infrastructure," said UEFA on 31/01/2017.

Four rounds of balloting were needed to decide between Marco Tura and the other candidate, Giampaolo Mazza. Marco Tura first obtained 39 votes against 36 for his opponent, but the quorum was set at 53 votes (66% + 1 vote). Both candidates then tied (37-37 and one spoiled ballot) for the next two rounds. In the fourth round, Marco Tura prevailed 40 votes to 35 for Mazza.
