"Advertising and media receipts have now become the two main revenue sources of the Bundesliga and its clubs. In the three to four years to come, I am confident that the international media revenue of the league will increase, because there is a huge potential for growth in some markets, for instance China. The priority for the DFL is the brand building of our clubs on a global scale. The social media presence of the league and the clubs must become stronger in the years to come," explained Christian Seifert, the CEO of the DFL, to News Tank Football on 26/01/2017.

The 18 Bundesliga clubs posted a record cumulative amount of €3.24bn in revenue in 2015-16, an increase of 23.7% compared to 2014-15 (€2.62bn), according to the Bundesliga Report 2017 released by the DFL on 26/01/2017. This is the 12th consecutive year of cumulative revenue growth by Bundesliga clubs.
