Twitter: 47.59 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (February 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League season have 47.59 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/02/2017. The Premier League is the second most followed Top 5 league, behind LaLiga Santander, with 2.38 million followers on average per club.

Manchester United FC remain the most followed English club, with 10.04 million followers, up 389,028 (+4%) compared with January 2017, ahead of Arsenal FC (2nd, 9.06 million) and Chelsea FC ( 3rd, 7.89 million). Manchester United are the Premier League club which posted the most new followers in January 2017, and the third club in Europe to exceed 10 million followers.

Everton FC became, in January, the eighth English club to have more than one million followers, which is a record in the Top 5 leagues. At 7.1% (from 187,968 to 201,287), Middlesbrough FC are the Premier League club which posted the best percentage growth on Twitter since January 2017, the month in which it became the 20th and latest Premier League club to exceed 200,000 followers on the social network.
