Josh Chambers drew 139,000 viewers by broadcasting, live via the social media streaming app Periscope, video of the Fourth round match of the 2016-17 FA Cup between Crystal Palace FC (Premier League) - Manchester City FC (Premier League) (0-3), on Saturday 28/01/2017 (kick-off at 15:00 local time). The Manchester City supporter was present at Selhurst Park, as one of more than 13,000 spectators in the stadium.

The Football Association (FA) has not indicated whether it would take legal action against this illegal streaming, first reported by The Times. The Premier League told the British newspaper that it has never recorded such a number of followers during one its games via the Periscope application, which belongs to Twitter since 13/03/2015.

Unlike the FA, which organises the FA Cup, the Premier League is associated with Irdeto, a company specialising in media protection, for the fight against illegal streaming of Premier League games, since 12/09/2014.

  • Videos on Periscope may revisited and rewatched for 24 hours. Users can interact by posting comments and "likes" on the video.
