adidas: Lionel Messi extends his contract brand ambassador "for several years"

Lionel Messi has extended his partnership with adidas "for several years," announced the Argentina international and FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) player on his Facebook page on 10/02/2017. The duration and amount of the new contract have not been officially communicated.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was under contract with Nike, the equipment supplier of FC Barcelona, between April 2002 and late January 2006, at which time he joined adidas, the kit supplier of the Argentina national team. Lionel Messi and the German sports equipment brand renewed their colloboration in 2011, for a period of seven years (through the 2018 World Cup) for an estimated amount of between $10m and $20m annually, according to sources.

Lionel Messi may have signed, on 10/02/2017, a lifetime contract with adidas, according to Spanish radio station Cope. Cristiano Ronaldo (POR, Real Madrid CF) reached an agreement with Nike for a "lifetime contract", announced the player on 08/11/2016.
