Champions League: the key business figures of SL Benfica versus Borussia Dortmund

At €283.9m in 2015-16, Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) posted a turnover 86% than that of SL Benfica (Liga NOS), which generated €152.1m, according to figures from the Deloitte Football Money League 2017. The two clubs meet at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon (POR), in the Round of 16 of the 2016-17 Champions League, on Tuesday, 14/02/2017 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

Borussia Dortmund are in 11th place in Europe in terms of revenue, while Benfica are ranked 27th. The German club posted significant matchday revenue (€61.1m), the result of an average attendance of 81,178 spectators at Signal Iduna Park in 2015-16, the best mark in Europe. In 2016-17, Dortmund currently have an average attendance of 81,104 spectators per game, second in Europe behind FC Barcelona. For their part, Benfica recorded an average attendance of 55,821 spectators in 2016-17 at the Estádio da Luz (64,642 capacity), which is the best figure in the Liga NOS.
