Carlo Tavecchio, president of the FIGC since 11/08/2014, and Andrea Abodi, president of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti B, are the two candidates for president of the FIGC at the elective Assembly to be held in Hilton Rome Airport hotel of Fiumicino (ITA), on Monday 06/03/2017.

The general assembly of the Lega Pro (Italian third division) which voted in favour of Andrea Abodi as a candidate (55 clubs with 57 vote), on 16/02/2017. "I decided for my candidacy because many people asked me to do something but moreover because I believe that football must change gear and direction. There are many negative data to evaluate. My wish is to bring to the football federation all the positive things that I implemented in my league," stated the leader of the Lega Serie B.

Carlo Tavecchio had previously confirmed him intention to stand for re-election for the 2017-2020 mandate at the federal council of Italian football in Rome on 27/01/2017 in which the draft budget for 2017 was adopted unanimously, and Michele Uva, the CEO of the FIGC, was nominated to join the UEFA Executive Committee (UEFA…
