LaLiga Santander: Atlético Madrid exceed the 100,000 socios mark (+13,747 thus far in 2016-17)

Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) have crossed, for the first time in its history, the 100,000 socios mark, announced the club on 23/02/2017. The 100,000^th socio, Nicolas (in photo) is a 3 year old who lives in Madrid, "whose parents, aunts and uncles, and cousins are all socios of the club".

The Madrid club had 86,253 socios at the end of the 2015-16 season. Atlético recorded an increase of 16% in its number of socios during the last eight months. The club had topped 80,000 socios in November 2015.

Among the socios of Atlético Madrid, 48,441 are season ticket holders to the club's games played at the Estadio Vicente Calderon (54,900 capacity). The other 51,559 are "non-subscriber socios", who benefit from various advantages (free tickets, discounts, priority for certain matches) in exchange for their support. The "non-subscriber socio" card costs €50 per season.
