Twitter: 48.77 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (March 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League season have a cumulative 48.77 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/03/2017. The Premier League is second among the European Top 5 leagues, behind LaLiga Santander, with 2.43 million followers on average per club.

Manchester United are the most followed English club, with 10.32 million subscribers, up 283,739 (+2.8%) compared to early February 2017. Five Premier League clubs - Arsenal (2nd, 9.31 million), Chelsea (3rd, 8.08 million), Liverpool (4th, 6.94 million), and Manchester City (5th, 4.06 million), in addition to Manchester United - have more than 4 million followers, the same number of clubs on the other Top 5 leagues combined over this amount of followers.

At 5%, (from 222,864 to 234,044), Burnley are the Premier League club which posted the best percentage growth on Twitter in February 2017, while Manchester United are one the club which gained the most new followers (+283,739).
