Twitter: 9.84 million followers in total for the 18 Bundesliga clubs (March 2017)

The 18 clubs in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season have a cumulative 9.84 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/03/2017. The Bundesliga is the least followed European Top 5 league on Twitter, with 547,068 followers on average per club.

FC Bayern Munich are the most popular German club on Twitter, with 3.36 million followers, an increase of 71,606 (+2.2%) compared to the beginning of February 2016. The Bundesliga is the only Top 5 league where no club has over 4 million followers.

FC Schalke 04 (3rd, 502,254 followers) became, in February 2017, the third German club to cross the half-million follower mark, after Bayern and Borussia Dortmund (2nd, 2.53 million). These three clubs have a cumulative 6.39 million followers, or 65% of the total all 18 Bundesliga clubs.

At 6.1%, (from 82,500 to 87,492), RB Leipzig are the Bundesliga club which recorded the best percentage growth of Twitter in February 2017, but the club remains one of three German clubs who count less than 100,000 total followers. Bundesliga clubs gained an…
