"Carlo Tavecchio (73 years old) has been reelected as the FIGC President. As with his previous election victory over Demetrio Albertini two and a half years ago, the third round of voting was crucial where Tavecchio took 54.03 per cent of votes (275.17 votes cast) while Andrea Abodi picked up 45.97 per cent (234.08 votes cast)," announced the FIGC after its General Assembly in Rome (ITA) on 06/03/2017.

In the first round, Carlo Tavecchio garnered 56.49% of votes when a 3/4 majority was required. In the second round, he gathered 53.7% of the vote, while the statutes required a 2/3 majority. In the third round, a simple majority (50%+1) was sufficient.

Carlo Tavecchio, born on 13/07/1943, first became president of the FIGC at 71 years old, at the elective assembly held on 11/08/2014 in Rome (ITA). He had obtained 63.63% of votes in the third round of voting. His opponent, the former Italian international Demetrio Albertini, had collected 33.95% of the votes, with 2.42% of blank votes counted.
