Media: Sportdigital acquires broadcast rights to the Portuguese league in Germany until 2016

German pay-TV channel Sportdigital has acquired some broadcast rights in Germany to the Liga Zon Sagres, the Portuguese first division, the company announced on the 17/08/2013.

The broadcast rights, which were acquired from media rights and marketing agency IMG, will enable Sportdigital to broadcast live up to two fixtures during each of the 30 features of the Portuguese league, between 2013 and 2016.

Sportdigital is available in Germany and Austria, via satellite (including Sky Deutschland), cable, IPTV (TV on high-speed Internet), as well as on Internet and mobile platforms.

The channel broadcast its first matches of the 2013-14 season on the 18/08/2013, with Maritimo Funchal vs. Benfica (2-1) and Vitória Setúbal vs. FC Porto (1-3). Sportdigital indicates that it will give priority every weekend to the Lisbon-based club (except its home games, managed by Benfica TV) and to the Portuguese defending champions, FC Porto.
