FDJ, the French national lottery, and the LFP are organising, for the first time, the initiative "Buts Pour Elles" ("Goals For Women") to promote women's football in clubs, during Matchday 29 of Ligue 1 and Domino's Ligue 2, from 10 to 13/03/2017.

"From Friday to Monday, for the 20 Ligue 1 and Domino's Ligue 2 matches, all goals will be converted into euros by the LFP, €500 per goal. The amount collected will help fund women's football projects selected following a call for projects from football clubs, launched on 08/03/2017 with the Fondaction of Football," stated the FDJ and LFP in a joint statement on 09/03/2017.

"This call for proposals aims to support initiatives around the development of women's football, including access to training, the feminisation of governance, and performance support," added the FDJ and the LFP. The five winning projects will equally share equally the money obtained thanks to goals scored in Matchday 29 of the two French professional divisions.

  • 717 goals were scored in Ligue 1 after 28 matchdays in 2016-17, or 25.7 goals on average per round.
