British pay-TV channel BT Sport has agreed a distribution partnership with cable television provider Virgin Media, the subsidiary of telecommunications company BT (British Telecom) announced on the 15/08/2013. The agreement will cover a period of three years.

The Virgin TV platform has 3.8 million subscribers in the UK. The operator will include BT Sport 1 and 2 channels and American sports channel ESPN in its telephone-Internet-television "XL" pack (£ 44.49 per month, € 52.10) and also as a standalone 15 pounds (17.6 €) a month subscription.

With this new agreement, BT Sport will enable almost three million UK households to receive its programs. "BT has made a large investment in BT Sport and this is an important commercial agreement for us that recognises the excellence of the channels. We are keen to make our services as widely available as possible and to do so via wholesale arrangements. We are doing this with BT Sport," said Marc Watson, BT TV chief executive.
