LaLiga: with six clubs under contract, adidas is the most represented kit supplier in 2016-17

With six of the 20 clubs (30%) under contract, the German sports equipment brand Adidas is the most represented kit supplier in LaLiga Santander during the 2016-17 season, ahead of the American brand Nike and the Spanish brand Joma, with five and four clubs partners respectively. The podium is unchanged from the 2015-16 season, when adidas and Nike had five clubs under contract, and Joma three.

Eight brands in total are represented in the Spanish first division in 2016-17, compared to 10 in 2015-16. The Danish supplier Hummel has appeared in 2016-17 with the promoted club Deportivo Alavés, while in 2015-16 the contracts between Villarreal CF with Chinese brand Xtep and Sporting Gijon with the Italian brand Kappa expired, while Rayo Vallecano, equipped by the Spanish brand Kelme, was relegated to LaLiga 1|2|3.

Nike (€124.5m, 66.6% of total) and adidas (€51.5m, 27.5%) together account for 94.1% of the €187m received via kit supplier agreements by LaLiga Santander clubs in 2016-17. FC Barcelona, with an estimated €105m paid by Nike in 2016-17, alone accounts for 56.1% of the total…
