adidas: turnover +18% in 2016 (€19.3bn), net profit +52% to €1.02bn

adidas Group posted a turnover of €19.3bn in the 2016 financial year (from 01/01 to 31/12/2016), up 18% compared to 2015 (€16.9bn) , announced the German sports equipment brand on 08/03/2017. The adidas brand accounted for 84.6% of the Group's revenues (€16.3bn), ahead of Reebok (€1.8bn, 9.7% of the total).

Western Europe is the first top market for adidas, with €5.3bn in revenues (+17%), or 27.5% of total Group turnover. Next are the North American market (€3.4bn in revenues; +24%; 17.6% of the total) and China (€3.01bn in revenues; +22%; 15.6% of the total). The Japanese market recorded the strongest growth, with revenues up 30% to €1.01bn in 2016, compared to €776m in 2015.

The footwear segment contributed €10.1bn in revenues (+17%), or 53% of the total turnover of the adidas Group. The apparel segment (clothing) posted €7.4bn in revenues (+7%), or 39% of the total. The hardware segment (equipment) posted nearly €1.7bn in revenues (+6%), or 9% of the total.
