Tunisia: championship kick off, scheduled for the 22/08/2013, postponed to a later date

FTF (Tunisian Football Federation) announced on the 20/08/2013, the postponement at a later date of the 2013/14 championship kick off, which was due to occur on the 22/08/2013. This delay was requested by the Tunisian Ligue 1 clubs, who disagree with the decision of the FTF to play all the matches behind closed doors because of the political turmoils and the safety in the country.

At the beginning of August, the Tunisian Homeland Security Ministry had indicated that it wasn't able to regulate both matches and protests in the country. Tunisian clubs ask for a financial compensation for the shortfall due to the absence of spectators. For the past three years, most of the games have been played behind closed doors.

Four out of the eight day one matches should have been played on the 18/08/2013. But the FTF decided on the 14/08/2013 to postpone them to the 22/08/2013, in order "to help the clubs facing serious financial difficulties".

No date has yet been set for the first matches of the Tunisian championship.
