Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) - Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Bundesliga), 0-0, in the Round of 16 of the 2016-17 Champions League (Madrid advanced 4-2 on aggregate), drew 4.6 million viewers on average in Germany on the public broadcaster ZDF, on Wednesday, 15/03/2017 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

This figure represented a 15.9% audience share, and allowed the public broadcaster to achieve the best performance of the day in the German TV market. However, it is the lowest audience for ZDF during the broadcast of a Champions League match involving a German team in 2016-17. VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach (Bundesliga) - Manchester City FC (Premier League), 1-1, was the previous encounter to have attracted fewer viewers this season, with 5.9 million on 23/11/2016.

In Spain, the game was broadcast on a pay channel of beIN Sports, which drew 780,000 viewers on average. Audience share: 4.5%.
