VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach - RB Leipzig (1-2), from Matchday 21 of the 2016-17 Bundesliga, was produced in UHD-HDR (Ultra High Definition - High Dynamic Range) on19/02/2017. "Together with its wholly-owned subsidiary company Sportcast, the DFL, on Matchday 21 realised a complete TV live production in UHD-HDR for the first time in Germany," announced the DFL on 17/03/2017.

The UHD-HDR broadcasting mode offers "an image with richer contrast, even in very bright or very dark areas of the picture", explained the DFL. This system will be tested at four other games by the end of 2017-18 season. The DFL will then assess whether and when UHD-HDR will be fully integrated into live production.

"The UHD-HDR test runs that we are implementing together with our partners and producers are an important step for us in fulfilling our pioneering role in applying innovative technologies," stated Josef Nehl, CEO of Sportcast, on 17/03/2017.
