Lega Serie A: the rules for the tender for the Serie A TV rights (2018-2021) unanimously approved

"The meeting of the Lega Serie A unanimously approved the rules for the tender for the (domestic) TV rights to the Serie A TIM for the 2018-2021 period," said Ezio Maria Simonelli, the acting president of the Italian League (the term of Maurizio Beretta having reached its end, see below), on 29/03/2017. The document was sent to the AGCM, on 30/03/2017, which has 60 days to approve these rules.

"We will not give more details because it would not be elegant if the Italian antitrust authority discovers information in the newspaper," added the Italian leader. Italian legislation (Melandri law) requires both the approval of the AGCM (Antitrust Committee) and the AGCOM (Telecom Regulator) to validate the tender.

AGCOM has requested that the Lega Serie A make changes to its draft call for tenders "for the TV rights to the 2018-2021 Serie A TIM, and other competitions organized by the League," said the Italian regulatory body for Telecom Activities on 26/01/2017.
